Michael Chapdelaine

Mallorca is from Spain in the late 19th Century. Written by Isaac Albeniz for piano, it is a favorite of classical guitarists who want to make people love them and their instrument (usually works, too). I played this piece for Segovia in the famous “incident” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiAbqf…) at the USC master class, that you may find interesting.
Do I still change things from El Maestro’s way?

Two Ballet Birds

Aired date: Sep 14, 1969

Plot: Bernstein compares the main theme of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake with Stravinsky’s Firebird. A performance of the pas de deux from Swan Lake illustrates the concept of abstract ballet, followed by excerpts from Stravinsky’s Firebird.
